So you’re engaged. HOW EXCITING. This is such a unique time in your life, and engagement photos are a great way to document it. If you’re looking for a way to make your session as special as your relationship is, you’re in the right place. Here are three ways to make your engagement session original.
Hi! I’m Ruthie. I am a Nebraska wedding photographer, who is all about capturing candid joy between couples and am a huge fan of photos that do not look stiff or awkward. To chat more, send me an inquiry via my contact page.
We all have seen classic engagement photos in a field or beach, which are beautiful. However, in addition to that, I encourage my couples to pick a location or prop that symbolizes them as a couple, so your photos are unique to the two of you. Here are three examples:
If you and your significant other share a pet together, this is the PAW-fect time to give them their moment of fame too. Pets are special because the two of you have shared taking care of them and they are a part of your family.
How do you and your significant other spend time together? Is it reading books?
Making dinner? Rollerskating? Whatever this hobby may be, it is so unique to capture the two of you in your natural environment and can help the photos feel even more natural, like a sweet date night. For example, this couple loves hammocking together, and so we hung up their hammock for the last few, which captured who they are as a couple so well.
What better way to capture your love, than reminiscing to the location where it all began. Or where you first told eachother you loved each other. Or just a date location that the two of you frequent. For example, if you both love going to museums together, exploring a new museum for your photoshoot will not only be a fun date night, but create such fun photos to remember this time in your life. These locations not only capture your essence as a couple, but can even create more candid emotions, as the two of you reflect on your journey, and how you got here.
By incorporating special pets, hobbies and locations into your engagement shoot, you’ll get images that are unique to the two of you, and will feel a LOT more comfy doing things you love. This is the perfect way to get real candid photos.
